Concrete Scanning for Rebar and Reinforcements - Phoenix, AZ

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. - GPRS - of Arizona was contacted by a local building contractor to scan a 40’ x 80’ concrete slab. This slab was preexisting, as it belonged to a building that had burned down. The contractor needed to have the slab scanned as they wanted to determine if the reinforcements within the footing were suitable enough to build a new steel structure on the slab. During the scan, we were able to determine the locations of the reinforcement, and these results were marked directly on to the concrete surface.

Once we were finished with the scan, we then provided the contractor with a detailed report of the results. This report not only included the results of the scan, but it also also explained the tools and processes that were used to perform the scan. This report was an important factor to the job as the contractor wanted to have report results that could used as a reference for future projects. This report was also used by the construction engineers as they worked to determine the best construction process to move forward with.

Ground penetrating radar is a great tool to scan concrete for post-tensioned cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems can also provide utility locating services, and we can locate water, gas, electrical, communication, and sewer lines prior to digging or excavation. We can also determine the location of underground storage tanks (UST’s).
