Locating Post Tension Cables with 1600 MHz GPR Technology - Atlanta, Georgia

Our Atlanta office was contacted to locate post tension cables at a newly constructed hotel in downtown Atlanta. An awning was being installed and the location of the cables needed to be properly identified so that they would not be hit during the installation process.

With the 1600 MHz antenna, GPRS technician Patrick Moulin was able to scan the area. The 1600 MHz antenna will typically reach depths from 12”-18”. An SIR-3000 computer system is what displays the data for evaluation. This project required precise, and well defined markings.

In the picture below you can see that we were able to properly locate the post tension cables and the rebar. The locations of the structural reinforcement was indicated on the surface of concrete using spray paint (as it was an exterior surface).
