This scan was performed inside a classroom at St. Josephat School in Chicago, IL. A partitioning wall, suspended from the ceiling, is to be installed down the middle of the room to separate the area in two. A structural engineer needed to identify the amount of reinforcement present to ensure the structure could support the additional load. David Hagenmayer, with Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC, was called out to scan the ceiling and map all the reinforcement so the engineer could accurately calculate the proposed loads. It was later determined that the ceiling did, in fact, contain a sufficient amount of reinforcement to support the new partitioning wall. Ground Penetrating Radar is cost effective, non-hazardous, and provides data in real time.
