Clear Cores For Downs Electric Through The Use Of Ground Penetrating Radar

Downs Electric contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Omaha to scan concrete at the Travel Transport Building in Omaha, NE. The slab was poured over corrugated steel and so the shallow and deep parts of the pan were marked along with crossing rebar and as shown in the picture below. This made possible cuts and cores that would minimize damage to the structure and the cost to Downs Electric.

The GPRS technician used the GSSI 1600MHz antenna and RD8000 to analyze and locate anomalies in concrete on the site. GPR can also be used to locate utilities and underground storage tanks (USTs). GPR is a safe alternative to X-ray and does not cause disruption or safety hazard to other workers or tenants.
