A contractor that was investigating the structural components of a third-floor hollow core slab contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Chicago for concrete scanning. The contractor hoped to find valuable information about the reinforcing and conduits of the building for future modifications and add-ons.
GPRS assists contractors by giving them a real-time view of the reinforcing and conduit layout helping them to know where they can place certain boring, and this can and it can reduce the likelihood of obstruction strikes during drilling, cutting, trenching, anchoring and other near-surface applications.
Ground penetrating radar emits radiation less than 1% of that found to be emitted by standard cell phones. This means practically no hazardous radiation to operators or persons above or below the work zone. Our system assists in the confirmation process of locating anomalies. Along with GSSI Sir-3000 technology, GPRS also uses the RD-8000 Locator to locate live power and RF signals underground. We can also locate utilities in/under concrete via induction or conduction with an exposed or known surface utility line. This was all done in a safe, time efficient, non-destructive way. GPRS specializes in multi-technology investigations. In order to do so, we employ highly qualified, trained and hardworking individuals, who are daily gaining more experience and knowledge about many different avenues of construction, reinforcement, conduits, slabs, columns, and many other structurally related questions. We guarantee the best service from our managers, with quick response times, quality information and data, great pricing, and enthusiasm. Each job comes with a job report of the findings from the site.

As an environemtal contractor was conducting an investigation for soil and water contamination at an industrial building in Elk Grove, IL, they contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Chicago for concrete scanning. The contractor hoped to find valuable information about the spacing of the reinforcing and the locations of any conduit in the floor prior to boring.
Above is a picture of the project area. As you can see, the results of the scan were marked directly onto the project surface.
GPRS scanning assists contractors by giving them a real-time view of reinforcing and conduit layouts which helps to reduce the likelihood of near-surface obstruction strikes during drilling, cutting, trenching, anchoring and other applications.
