Locating Conduit - Rochester, New York

BLM Construction was working on a project in the basement of the University of Rochester’s library, and as part of this needed to perform trenching in order to run electric lines through the work space. The building superintendent informed BLM that the floor may have already had conduit running through, or under the concrete slab. BLM saw that GPRS, LLC. operated locally and gave them a call to complete the scan of the floor using ground penetrating radar the.

Jim Bell of the Upstate, NY office, which focuses on the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, and Albany markets mobilized to the site and was able to quickly detect and lay out the lines running through the areas of the trenching that would occur. Jim and GPR were able to complete this project in real time and with none of the radiation concerns that come with using x-ray to locate tensioned cables or rebar.
