Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was recently called by a local environmental company to locate an underground storage tank in Richmond, Virginia. The scope of work was to scan a 50’ x 50’ concrete slab inside an old dry cleaner building where the owner indicated there is still an underground storage tank in the ground. They are in the early stages of converting the old dry cleaner into apartment complexes. GPRS, LLC. was able to scan the area and successfully locate the existing underground storage tank that had not been removed. We marked the perimeter of the tank on the ground with spray paint and also provided a depth as to how deep it was in the ground. Ground penetrating radar is an effective and efficient way of locating underground utility lines, storage tanks, and voids.
