PT Cable Locating For Condominium Complex - St. Petersburg, FL

In March of 2014, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. (GPRS) was contacted by a condominium association in order to locate any post-tension (PT) cables in the condo’s conference room in St. Petersburg, FL. The condominium association needed to make certain of where PT cables and other anomalies were running in order to core-drill a 4” diameter hole through the concrete floor to install an electrical box into the floor. The company contacted GPRS of Tampa, Florida to map out where the PT cables and other anomalies were located in order to avoid hitting any of them.

Justin Rasanow of GPRS was contacted in order to perform the survey at this location. Using our 1600MHz antenna radar equipment, we were able to map out all of the PT cables and other anomalies which were running through the areas of concern. The contractor was pleased with our results and drilled the holes while we were still on-site. The project was completed without any incidents or concerns.

Above is a photo taken on-site which depicts PT cables running through an area of concern. Each line marked with “X’s” through it was believed to be either a single PT cable, or a group of PT cables in the concrete.
