Underground Utility Locate - Seattle, Washington![]() Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. was contacted by a large contractor in Seattle to locate and map out underground utilities. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. used a 400 MHz GPR antenna as well as Radio Detection to perform the underground utility locate. The findings were marked directly on the surface with color coordinated spray paint as seen in the picture above. We were also able to provide the depths of the utilities for the contractor. On this facility there were multiple gas lines as well as many abandoned underground utilities. In this image you can see the gas lines indicated by the yellow spray paint. The red spray paint indicates an electrical conduit and the white paint indicates abandoned utilities. This enabled the contractor the confidence and knowledge to continue with their trenching for new gas lines as well and their soil borings. On this project we also provided the customer with a CAD output of all of the located utilities within the facility. Utilizing GPR reduces risk and cost, promotes a safe work environment, and provides non-destructive testing by locating materials such as concrete, plastic, metal, steel, and pavement. Our client base includes hospitals, universities, surveyors, engineers, homeowners, contractors, environmentalists, and excavators.
