GPRS Locates Private Utility Lines for Contractor - Naples, Florida
Recently, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. (GPRS) was contacted by a contractor in order to locate utilities throughout a complex in Naples, FL. The company plans to add a building in the scanned areas. The company contacted GPRS of Tampa, FL in order to know where any utilities were located in the areas they would be building in.
Below is a photo taken on-site which depicts Justin Rasanow scanning an area of the proposed building location using his 400MHz antenna.
![]() Private Utilities Located Prior to Trenching - Bradenton, FLRecently, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) of Tampa, FL was requested onsite by a general contractor to perform a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scan at a building in Bradenton, FL. The purpose of our scanning was to locate any utilities within a proposed trench path (area of concern) from an existing electrical transformer to a location where they plan to run new conduit into an adjacent building. ![]()
Any anomalies within 5’ of the surface were located and marked on the surface for this survey. If there were no anomalies found within 24” of the surface in the proposed trench path, the contractor planned to trench a new conduit. However, if any anomalies were found within 24” of the surface, the contractor would directional bore the new conduit in the proposed trench path. All of our findings were marked on the surface using paint and flags (including depths to the top of each located anomaly) in the areas of concern. Based on our findings, the general contractor was able to plan how to run the new conduit from the existing transformer into the building. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems is the best way to ensure the locations of underground utilities prior to digging, trenching or directional boring. The photo below depicts Justin Rasanow, our Tampa Area Manager, scanning a portion of the area of concern using our 400MHz antenna.
