Private Underground Utilities and UST’s Located

AMEC Environment and Infrastructure, which is an environmental company that does work throughout the country, was about to undertake a project at an existing bank in Buffalo, NY when they learned there may have been underground storage tanks (UST’s) on the property. Their project required that they determine if there were underground storage tanks and utilities present in order to conduct several soil borings. AMEC had previously heard about underground radar, and decided to give GPRS a try to complete the project. Jim Bell, of the Upstate, NY office, mobilized to the site and performed the survey well within the requested timetable of AMEC and the property manager.

Upon arrival on site, Jim located the lines, as well as determining the storage tanks that were on site had been removed. He marked out directly on the surface so that the drillers could know exactly where they could conduct the borings. The picture below shows one of the areas Jim found a UST as well as a utility line.
