Raystown Lake Dam Calls GPRS GPRS Pennsylvania was called when there was some core drilling that needed done at the Raystown Lake Dam. The plan was to take two 4” diameter deep concrete core samples in the vertical spillway walls at the Raystown Lake Dam (next to the power plant) in Huntingdon, PA. Before the process began, they needed to know exactly where the rebar as well as the steel embedded angles were in the concrete so they would avoid coring through it. The engineers didn’t want to risk coring through any steel that could weaken the structural integrity of the Dam. Sam Hart, who covers the mid-state region in Pennsylvania for GPRS was able to come out and scan the concrete in a time efficient manner. The concrete core samples were approximately 20 feet off the ground. In order for Sam to access the core locations, he had to elevate on a swinging platform, while wearing his safety harness for obvious precautionary measures. Sam was able to locate the rebar 12” in the concrete, as well as the embedded angles which were 4” in. He clearly marked out the steel with yellow crayon. If you need any concrete analysis in the Huntington, State College, York or Harrisburg Pennsylvania area please contact Sam Hart at 717-798-5721 or sam.hart@gprsinc.com
