GPR Scanning for Underground Storage Tanks USTs – Dallas, TX

This scan took place in the parking lot of a Chevy dealership in Dallas, TX. There were known USTs on the property and it was suggested that all of the tanks had been removed, however, there were no records of their removal. The client needed to confirm whether or not the tanks were, in fact, still buried so he could collect samples of the soil.

David Hagenmayer with Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. was contracted to scan the parking lot and mark out any subsurface anomalies that were associated with the presence of a UST. One area, in the above picture, contained anomalies that appeared to be associated with a tank removal. The data showed excavation walls, and the area of interest matched the approximate size of the former tank. David was able to determine the precise boundaries of the disturbed soil area. The client was then able to collect soil samples within the boundaries of the tank pit and gain an understanding of the contamination levels.
