Underground Utility Locate - Seattle, WashingtonGround Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. was contacted by a large contractor in Seattle to scan a property for underground utilities. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. used a 400 MHz GPR antenna as well as Radio Detection to perform the underground utility locate, and as the scan was conducted, the results were marked directly onto the project surface with color coordinated spray paint (as shown in the picture below). At this property, there were multiple gas lines, and several abandoned underground utilities, and the locations of these lines were all marked out. ![]() In the image above, you can see the gas lines marked with yellow spray paint, the water line is marked out with blue paint, the green paint indicates a sewer line, and the white paint indicates unknown utilities. Once the scan was finished, the contractor was then able to use this information to confidently move forward with their trenching so that they could install several new fiber optic lines. For this project, in addition to using spray paint to mark the results onto the ground, we also provided the customer with a CAD output of all of the located utilities.
