Soil imaging is being used to help environmental companies search for underground storage tanks that have not been removed from the ground and disposed of properly. Recently Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Boise assisted with such an investigation, and located three tanks that needed to be removed from the ground before they cause any harm to the environment. The technician on site was able to scan a parking lot and precisely locate the tanks so the environmental company could take soil samples to determine if the tank was leaking. The ground penetrating radar scan also located the nearby utilities so the drilling crew did not damage them resulting in a costly repair.
Ground x-raying is a safe and easy way to locate any unknown anomalies in the soil because it doesn’t emit
any chemicals or radiation. Soil imaging can also cover a large amount of area very quickly, which provides the customer with a large amount of information in a short amount of time. The radar equipment used by GPRS of Boise operates on a live feed system meaning as we scan we receive instant results that can be mapped out in real time.
