GPRS Locates Utility Lines at Oak Brook Mall - Oak Brook, IL

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was contacted by a local sign company to locate utilities at the Oak Brook Mall for new signage. The customer was hoping to find a clear area to dig for future plans of an overhanging clearance sign before one of the malls parking garages.

GPRS scanned the surrounding areas and found that there were gas, irrigation, and site lighting running through the proposed area. We were able to then find a location for a safe dig in between the lines. Our services cannot determine the radius of piping, therefore GPRS would recommend pot holing or hand digging around any and all potential lines.

Remember to scan before you plan! Imagine if the sign company had run into the gas or electric lines. Pre-planning with GPRS will better ensure worker safety and saves valuable time by targeting specific areas of concern. GPRS can also provide the result of a GPR scan with GPS reports and Google Earth maps. We can also overlay the results of a scan on pre-existing CAD files.

Don’t dig yourself into a hole you can’t get out of. One of our goals at GPRS is to keep all projects on-budget and on-schedule. The last thing you need while working on an important, time sensitive project are setbacks.
