Ground
Penetrating Radar Systems was contracted
to do several concrete inspections at
the Avery Dennison plant in Mill Hall, PA. The plant was
looking to add some steel “cat-walk” structures
to two different existing concrete slabs. They did not
have any information on the slabs and in order to build
this structure properly they needed to know what loads
could be applied to the concrete.
Chris Moore with Ground
Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted to
come in and do several inspections to determine concrete
thickness and rebar presence. GPRS was able to provide invaluable information proving concrete
thickness and rebar spacing which was then provided to the engineers for further
evaluation.
Concrete
inspections are becoming a popular application
for ground penetrating radar because it is a non-invasive inspection. Most clients
are interested in gathering as much information as possible
without destroying the concrete and Ground Penetrating Radar has the solution.
Overall,
the concrete inspections at the Avery Dennison plant were extremely successful
and provided more then the necessary information for the
contractors and engineers.
