Cork Howard Construction Co. GPR Project, Tampa, FL
When Cork Howard Construction Co. of Tampa, FL needed to core drill a location in an active office building near downtown Tampa, FL without hitting any of the post tensioned cables and without disturbing the other offices they contacted GPRS, Inc of Orlando, FL. Cork Howard was getting close to finishing an office build out for US Legal and needed to drill a hole for a new sink drain. They were on a time crunch with the finish date fast approaching and they contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. to see if they could facilitate the need. GPRS places a high priority on customer service and was willing to do what it took to get the work done for Cork Howard. On site GPRS was able to locate all of the reinforcing steel in the concrete. This includes rebar and post tensioned cables. The rebar and post tensioned cables were mapped out on the surface and a clear place to core drill was located and marked as well. GPRS then reviewed the information with the Cork Howard representative to make sure they understood exactly what was going on and where they needed to drill in order to miss the post tensioned cables. All in all the scan was a success and Cork Howard was able to drill without concern of hitting any post tensioned cables. This certainly saved them from the costly expense to repair a post tensioned cable had they drilled and hit one. Chris Moore runs GPRS operations in the South Eastern United States. He is based in Orlando, FL and he can be reached at (727)420.3292 or by email at chris.moore@gprsinc.com.
