“Keep
us from cutting any PT cable.” That was the charge
given to PSI in Charlotte, North Carolina by the contractors
at the Epicentre in downtown Charlotte. PSI responded
by bringing in Ground Penetrating
Radar Systems to accurately map out not
only the Post Tension
Cable, but to locate conduits running through the slab as well.
While
still at a relatively early stage in the building process,
the contractors were very frustrated at the prospect
of bringing in a traditional x-ray to locate reinforcing steel and conduits.
They would have to schedule the work at night and not
allow any vibrations on the massive parking deck. With
over 60 penetrations to be made in just a 2-day period,
they knew that x-raying every time they had a penetration
to be made would be a costly burden over the entire
length of the project.
Mitch
Ross of Ground Penetrating
Radar Systems was able to mobilize to the
sight during regular working days with no danger of
causing harm to any other workers or equipment. He was
able to accurately identify and map out the tendons
and the conduit around all 60 of the initial holes in less than 2 days!
The ground penetrating radar
system and the experienced technicians
from GPRS were
the right choice for this project, and for yours as
well!
Mapping Post-Tensioning
Cables and laying out the path of electrical
conduit are two common concrete scanning
applications performed by Ground
Penetrating Radar Systems on a daily basis.
