Rebar and Post Tension Cable Locating

identify all of the post tension cables and rebar quickly and accuratelyGround Penetrating Radar Systems, GPRS, was contacted by EV-Airtight in regards to a project on Wisconsin Avenue in NW Washington, DC. EV-Airtight needed the rebar and post-tension cables located in 16 locations within a parking garage. The company requested that GPRS Virginia mark out these 16 locations prior to them chipping out the top layer of concrete.  Their main concern was not hitting any post-tension cables during this process. This is an ideal application for ground penetrating radar  as PT Cable and rebar locating are GPR specialties. GPRS, LLC. from Arlington, Va. took the call and mobilized to the site.

On site GPRS was able to identify all of the post tension cables and rebar quickly and accurately. They marked all of them on the surface with depth indications to the top of the rebar or cable. GPRS then was able to relay these findings to EV-Airtight to ensure no cables were hit during this process. The project was a success and radar once again proved its usefulness on concrete for locating rebar and post tensioned cables.

Jamey Harmon runs GPRS operations in the Virginia and Maryland. He is based in Arlington, Va.  and he can be reached at (703)728-7333 or by email at jamey.harmon@gprsinc.com.
