When Lake Erie Electric needed to make 6” diameter penetrations through a concrete floor at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, they first contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC, Lake Erie needed to make these penetrations without cutting any rebar. There were two mats of rebar on 12” centers at the top and the bottom of the structural slab. Ground Penetrating Radar was used for mapping rebar at each location and all holes were drilled without incident.
Concrete scanning for the purposes of laying out rebar and post-tensioning prior to core drilling is the service we perform most regularly at Ground Penetrating Radar System. The Cleveland Clinic sees the value in scanning prior to cutting and often requires concrete to be scanned with Ground Penetrating Radar prior to any penetrations being made.
