GPRS - Concrete Scanning at Powell Bridge - Miami, FL

Ground Penetrating Radar , Inc was contacted by Gannett Fleming to scan two different pier caps on the bottom of a major bridge in Miami, FL. Gannett needed to verify the presence of reinforcing steel in the pier caps in order to determine what loads could be placed on the bridge. They also need a way to do this non-destructively as the bridge is in use on a daily basis. Gannett felt that GPR technology would be a great fit for this application.

While on site, Chris was able to verify that the rebar placement and spacing. The reinforcing steel was marked out on the concrete surface of the pier cap for future reference.

Another crucial aspect of the job was producing an in-depth report of the findings on the pier caps. Chris collected all of the data, compiled it, and produced a report that met the needs of Gannett Fleming. All in all, ground penetrating radar proved to be the perfect technology to accomplish the goals of Gannett Fleming. Ground Penetrating Radar's ability to locate reinforcing steel with precision accuracy and its reliability has yet again proven beneficial to another satisfied customer.
