GPRS, Inc was contacted by United Electrical Contractors, Inc. about locating reinforcing steel (rebar) in a wall. The work was to be completed at Shamu Stadium at Seaworld of Orlando, Florida. United was running new electrical conduit around the stadium and need to make 40 different penetrations through several walls to complete the project. They were informed that no rebar could be cut during the drilling process so United turned to Chris Moore with GPRS to determine the location of the rebar in the walls.
Seaworld only allows site work to be performed at Shamu Stadium between the hours of 5:30am and 10:00am. Thus, GPRS had a certain time frame they needed to adjust to. This, of course, is not a problem for the customer service oriented team of GPRS. They mobilized to the site and completed the work. GPRS was able to determine that the wall size to be roughly 8” and the rebar to be on 8” centers.
Overall, the project was a success and United will certainly be contacted GPRS for future layout work at Seaworld. Concrete scanning is the primary service we provide at GPRS. When it comes to locating rebar or post tensioned cables, and electrical conduits, GPRS has the tools and experience to get the job done.
