GPRS, Inc was contacted by Sibley Solutions about locating underground utilities in and around a proposed construction site at the Baxter Facility in Memphis, TN. Baxter is a pharmaceutical storage company and relies on temperature control to maintain the maximum shelf life of the medicines they house. Thus, any power interruptions that would affect the cooling and heating units they run would be very costly.
Sibley Solutions contacted us, at GPRS, and asked if we would be willing to bring our ground penetrating radar equipment to the site to locate any underground utilities, especially electrical, that might be running through the construction area. Travel for the team of GPRS is a common practice and it was no problem at all to mobilize from Orlando, FL to Memphis, TN to complete the work.
Once on site ground penetrating radar, in conjunction with radio detection, was able to locate a large conduit streaking through the construction zone. This conduit was carefully un-earthed to reveal to true size of the conduit and to develop a re-routing plan. Sibley was impressed with the capabilities of ground penetrating radar and the accuracy which it exhibited on their project.
Using Ground Penetrating Radar to identify underground utilities is a typical application for the technicians at GPRS. Give us a call today prior to initiating excavation to make sure you know what is below the surface. Chris Moore is primarily responsible for our operations throughout the state of Florida.
